The Story of Félicette

FOR THE STRAYS

Félicette was a black & white Parisian stray cat, who came from France. This special feline however made history on October 18th 1963, as the first & only cat ever to travel into space!

There were 14 other cats trained specifically for this mission. Félicette (Code named "C 341") surpassed all of the competition with her calm nature & intelligent behaviour.

Félicette spent 15 minutes in space, reaching over 157km high, before returning to Earth as a fable!

however...

Heartbreakingly, two months after her triumphant return, researchers euthanized Félicette to examine her brain tissue for the effects of spaceflight. Despite this tragedy, she lives on in memory.
